Surat (Gujarat) [India]: The second edition of the WeaveKnit Exhibition has been organized jointly by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) and the Southern Gujarat Chamber Trade and Industries Development Centre (SGCTIDC) to give a new direction and momentum to the power loom weaving, knitting, narrow fabrics and technical textiles in Surat.

Union Minister for Textiles and Railways, Darshana Jardosh will inaugurate the three-day-long WeaveKnit exhibition at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC) located at Sarsana in July 23. About 150 exhibitors from weaving, knitting, narrow fabrics, and technical textiles are participating in the exhibition.

Ashish Gujarati, president of SGCCI said, "Weave Knit is a signature event of SGCCI. Our main objective behind this exhibition is to give a new direction and momentum to the industries like weaving, knitting, narrow fabrics, and technical textiles in Surat. This is the second edition of Weave Knit following the overwhelming response and demand of the manufacturers from Surat"

"The entire Weave Knit exhibition is based on the theme of Sustainable Bio-Degradable fabrics. Fabrics made from the Lotus Stem fiber will be the center of attraction in this exhibition. Dr. Sumi Haldar, faculty of the Clothing and Textile department from the Maharaja Sayajirao University is participating with the fabrics made from the Lotus Stem fiber. Moreover, the Lepet fabrics will also draw the attention of the buyers at Weave Knit" added Gujarati.

A delegation from Dubai Textile Merchants Association (TEXMAS) from Dubai will be visiting the Weave Knit Exhibition to explore the bilateral trade between Surat and UAE. TEXMAS is an apex body of the Textile Merchants in UAE and they are exporting textile goods to over 90 countries in the world.

Gujarati stated that buyers and merchants from different parts of the country including Jaipur, Delhi, Punjab, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Cuttack, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Gwalior, Benaras, Mumbai, Lucknow, etc. will be visiting the exhibition.
