Salaries of 7,000 Ahmedabad police personnel delayed amid portal update

Over 7,000 police personnel, ranging from constables to police inspectors in Ahmedabad, faced a delay in their monthly salaries, leading to widespread concern and unrest.

Normally, salaries for the Ahmedabad City Police staff, from constables to PIs, are disbursed by the third of every month. However, this month’s delay caused unrest among the department.

Especially the officers who needed to make EMI payments for home and car loans. Many rushed to the accounts branch at the Police Commissioner’s office for answers.

Following the uproar, online salary payments began on Wednesday evening. Officials from the Commissioner’s office stated that, as the data entry progresses, salaries will be released in phases, with the entire process expected to conclude within four days.

The delay occurred as data of Gujarat police personnel is being uploaded to the Karmayogi Portal, which will now host all essential records such as leave, salary bills, service details, probation status, property declarations, and increments.

Once the e-service books are ready, monthly updates will be uploaded directly to the portal.

Police personnel can also access their records by downloading the Karmayogi app. With this shift to digitisation, administrative workload related to salary paperwork at police stations is expected to reduce significantly.
