Typically collecting around 2.6 million litres daily, the dairy managed to gather only 1 million litres amid the ongoing agitation.

Over 3.75 lakh dairy farmers from Sabarkantha and Aravalli districts have joined the protest, expressing strong discontent over what they describe as unfair milk price adjustments by the cooperative.

In a dramatic show of dissent, farmers have poured milk from at least 17 tankers onto roads in recent days. A viral video from Shinawad shows farmers halting a milk tanker and emptying its contents on the street—an act echoed in other parts of Aravalli as well.

With milk now being withheld from the dairy, tanker movements to chilling centres have significantly reduced, further disrupting operations.

Determined to make a point while helping others, protesting farmers have begun distributing milk for free in urban neighborhoods, schools, and local communities. They have vowed to continue their agitation until what they term as “justice” is delivered.

The sharp decline in milk supply is raising operational concerns at Sabar Dairy, one of the largest cooperatives in Gujarat.
