Reckless driving led to 8 accidents daily on SG Road: EMRI 108 data

Even as the gruesome Iskcon flyover accident in which a speeding youngster killed nine early on Thursday morning shocked Amdavadis, the statistics of EMRI 108 indicated that the SG Road is an accident hotspot.

In 2022-23, the stretch between Sarkhej crossroads to Vaishnodevi crossroads has on an average recorded eight accidents daily, or one accident every three hours!

According to EMRI 108 emergency services, the year 2022-23 (April to March) recorded 3,005 road traffic accident (RTA) calls where ambulances were dispatched to cater to the injured.

This is a significant rise of 65% as compared to 2021-22, when 1,820 RTAs were recorded.

The figures also include some RTAs on the arterial roads, service roads or nearby localities, but majority of the accidents take place on the SG Road, added officials.
