After a brief pause, rain is likely to play spoilsport during Navratri in Gujarat. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Ahmedabad on the very first night of celebrations.
According to the forecast, the city is likely to see winds blowing at 30–40 kmph along with light to moderate showers between September 19 and 22.
Weather experts also suggest that similar conditions may prevail between September 23 and 25.
However, there is no rain forecast from September 26 to 29. On September 30, though, light to moderate showers are again possible.
This means the festive mood of Navratri in Ahmedabad could well be interrupted by rain. So far this monsoon, Ahmedabad city has received 110% of its average rainfall, while Ahmedabad district has received 91%.
As per IMD, “Light thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind 30-40 kmph accompanied with light to moderate rain is likely in Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad and Diu between September 19 and 23.”
