Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Gujarat on Sunday on a three-day visit, which will see him inaugurate Rs 14,500-crore development projects across the poll-bound state.

Modi will also declare Modhera village in the state as India's first solar-powered village, the Gujarat government has announced.

Modhera, a village in the Mehsana district of Gujarat, is home to the famous Sun Temple.

According to Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel, the state was taking the lead in fulfilling the Prime Minister's vision of generating clean energy. 

Government sources said over 1,000 solar panels have been installed on village houses generating electricity round the clock for the villagers.

They will be provided electricity at zero cost and can save 60% to 100 % on electricity bills with this project. 

"This will be followed by Darshan and Pooja at Modheshwari Mata Temple at around 6:45 PM, followed by a visit to Surya Mandir at 7:30 PM," said a statement by the Prime Minister's Office. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch various projects at Amod in Bharuch, Ahmedabad and Jamnagar.

While he will lay the foundation stone of the Bulk Drug Park at Jambusar in Bharuch, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate Phase 1 of Modi Shaikshanik Sankul, an educational complex for needy students in Ahmedabad.

Modi's visit will also coincide with the BJP yatras in the state which the party will be undertaking in every assembly constituency in the state.

After Gujarat, the PM will head towards Madhya Pradesh where he will inaugurate Mahakal Lok, which will provide modern amenities to pilgrims visiting the Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh.
