Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken stock of the situation in Gujarat, where explosions were heard last night. PM Modi spoke to Gujarat's Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who apprised him of the measures taken by the state government.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with me and obtained details of Gujarat's preparedness as a border state and the advanced planning undertaken by the state government in the current situation along the border," Patel posted on X
Asserting that PM Modi provided necessary guidance, Patel said: "The Prime Minister also obtained details about the steps taken by the state government for the safety and security of citizens, especially in sensitive districts like Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, Jamnagar, which border Pakistan."
Tensions soared late Thursday as Indian defence systems sprang into action, taking down three Pakistani drones along the Kutch border in Gujarat. The breach prompted a swift and strategic response, putting 18 districts on high alert and plunging several regions, Kutch, Banaskantha, Vav-Tharad, and Patan, into a precautionary blackout, reported local media websites.
Gujarat's Home Minister, Harsh Sanghavi, rushed to the state's emergency command centre as authorities scrambled to coordinate their response. In Ahmedabad, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport was also placed under heightened alert, underscoring the scale and seriousness of the threat.
Earlier on Thursday, Indian air defence successfully repelled a wave of aerial attacks targeting Jammu and several military stations near the western border. The attempted strike involved drones and missiles, reportedly launched by Pakistan, and triggered widespread alarms and power outages across Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
Residents in the affected areas were advised to remain indoors as emergency protocols were enacted. Sirens wailed, and the night sky lit up with the defence forces' interception operations.
