Gujarat government’s granted schools are set to train more than 20,000 newly recruited teachers of Classes 3 to 10 in effective teaching, question framing, and student evaluation techniques.
The initiative, being implemented for the first time, is aligned with the New Education Policy (NEP).
The training will focus on key areas such as planning, subject presentation skills, use of technology and resource material in classrooms, developing exam questions, and assessment methods, including checking answer sheets and preparing results.
In the first phase, around 10,500 teachers of Classes 3 to 5 and 9 to 10 will undergo training from October 29 to November 4, during the Diwali vacation.
The remaining 10,000 teachers for Classes 6 to 8 will be trained after they receive district and school allocations.
Although five years have passed since the implementation of the NEP, its provisions are yet to be fully applied in school education.
The government’s move aims to ensure that teachers are adequately prepared in line with NEP standards, thereby strengthening student learning outcomes.
The Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training (GCERT) has issued directives to district education training centres, DEOs, DPEOs, and municipal school authorities to coordinate the programme. A dedicated grant has also been sanctioned to cover the training expenses.
