Now customers will get monthly usage unit and bill amount on mobile. Charusat's Department of Electrical Engineering wins first place in Gujarat in Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP 2019-20) in Public Entity category.

M&V Patel Department of Electrical Engineering, CHARUSAT University has successfully secured first rank in the final round of Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP 2019-20), organized by the Government of Gujarat. This is indeed a massive win as the competition was fierce with approximately 1600 teams in the first round and 242 in the grand final round.

Students Shivrajsinh Raj, Parth Shah and Shailee Shukla represented the Department of Electrical Engineering in the competition under the guidance of Team Mentor and Assistant Professor Vibha Parmar. Different companies gave their problem statements in the public entity category under different categories. In which the team worked on the problem statement given by DGVCL Valsad Utility.

The team came up with an innovative engineering design of a smart meter for a real-time challenge faced by DGVCL Valsad utility. The project "Automatic Meter Reading and Billing to Issue Monthly Billing instead of Bimonthly" focuses on advance features like energy conservation and bidirectional flow of information. Although the highlight of the project was the proposed cost optimized solution.

The students created a prototype hardware based on GSM SIM card which generates automatic electricity meter reading and monthly bill. With the help of which the customer will get the monthly used unit and bill amount only on his mobile. The project focuses on advanced features such as energy conservation and bilateral flow of information, although the highlight of the project was to come up with a solution to reduce the proposed costs.
