NABL certification to lab services of Sayaji Hospital and Baroda Medical College

The lab services of Sayaji Hospital and Baroda Medical College received the NABL certification for their quality and noble services. The Clinical Chemistry Lab operating under the Department of Biochemistry has conducted more than 5.37 lakh different lab tests in 10 months.

The application was made through the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Gujarat after extensive pre-preparation and accurate documentary evidence before the National Institute. Following which the accreditation was granted, said Medical Superintendent Dr. Ranjan Iyer.

He said that as part of Team Sayaji, uninterrupted services have been provided by the laboratory especially in the epidemic of corona and mucormycosis and it has helped a lot in determining effective treatment.

This certificate has been awarded on the basis of in-depth verification of quality and efficiency requirements in the field of medical testing as per the criteria prescribed by ISO-15189: 2012. The Medical Superintendent has expressed the feeling that this is a moment of pride for them.

It is worth mentioning here that the NABL committee was formed in the Covid period and it has unprecedented contribution along with the Department of Biochemistry. Dr. Shilpa Jain, Head, Department of Biochemistry, under the proper guidance of the Medical Superintendent, successfully completed the entire process of preparing the application with accurate documents for this certification, which resulted in Sayaji Hospital and Baroda Medical College receiving this prestigious certification for the second time.

The lab services here have been provided free of cost to the patients not only of Vadodara city and district but also of Central Gujarat and other districts of the state and neighboring states which should be noted.

The Clinical Chemistry Laboratory of the Department of Biochemistry, operating under the umbrella of Sayaji Hospital and Baroda Medical College, is very useful in diagnosing and determining treatment during covid crisis. The tests include D Dimer, LDH, ABG Analysis, hba1c and Feritin. During the period of emergency August 2020 to May 2021, a total of 537725 tests were conducted here which is an unprecedented work.

Considering the importance of regulation of diabetes in the treatment of corona, round-the-clock blood sugar testing and hba1c tests were done by the Biochemistry Lab and necessary arrangements were made so that the concerned doctors could get the online report immediately. For this Doctors and all staff deserve a salute for their dedicated service.
