The Morbi Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested eight persons in connection with obtaining weapon licenses from Manipur and Nagaland under suspicious circumstances.

A total of nine firearms and 251 cartridges were seized, with a combined estimated value of over ₹9 lakh.

Preliminary investigation revealed that these individuals acquired All India Permits for weapons through agents operating in Manipur and Nagaland.

The accused obtained licenses from these states despite having a low likelihood of being granted licenses in Gujarat due to previous criminal records or ineligibility.

The SOG team was conducting patrols as part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal movement of weapons from other states into Morbi and surrounding areas.

During the probe, it was discovered that several people had bypassed the legal process by obtaining licenses from other states with the help of agents.

Those 8 individuals got arrested are: Rohit Nanji Fagliya, Ismail Sajan Kumbhar, Mukesh Bhanu Dangar,Mahesh Parbat Miyatra, Prakash Chunilal Unaliya, Praveensinh Chatubha Zala, Mavjibhai Khengarbhai Boricha, Shiraj alias Dukhi Amirali Popatiya, The seized items include nine weapons—revolvers and pistols—worth ₹8,74,760 and 251 cartridges valued at ₹57,792.

Legal proceedings are underway.
