Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State for Railways and Textiles dedicated the newly upgraded Vadodara railway station with several improved and new facilities and passenger amenities on Friday, 31st December, 2021 in a function held at Vadodara station. MP Ranjanben Bhatt, Mayor of Vadodara – Keyur Rokadiya, MLA - Jitendra Sukhadiya, Alok Kansal – General Manager of Western Railway, senior railway officers, rail users and representatives of electronic/print media were present on the occasion.
According to a press release issued by Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, at the outset General Manager Alok Kansal welcomed the dignitaries. A short movie showcasing the makeover of Vadodara station was screened. Thereafter, Minister of State for Railways unveiled the Plaque & dedicated the upgraded Vadodara station. GM then presented mementoes to the dignitaries.
Thakur further stated that the upgradation of Vadodara station has been undertaken by providing a blend of both, local as well as modern touch to the station with many passenger friendly amenities. The master plan for upgradation was conceptualized to improve the existing passenger amenities and improving circulating area. This will enable in streamlining the traffic flow pattern with integration including the locality & strategy to make the station as Hub of the city.
*The major scope of the work involved is as under:*
· Improvement of the façade of station building.
· Improvement to Platform surface.
· Improvement to Platform no. 1 roof ceiling.
· Revamp of station director office, booking office, enquiry office.
· Seating arrangement for passengers.
· Improved waiting hall & related amenities.
· Beautification of concourse hall area.
· Smooth vehicle circulation together with signages & passenger movement plan.
· Circulation plan for Divyangjan & all amenities.
· Renovation of pay & use toilet at PF 1 & at Surat end waiting hall.
· Display of local art / sculpture.
