The state monitoring cell (SMC), working directly under the state DGP's office, raided a small-scale industrial estate in the Bapunagar area of the city and seized 2,100 litres of chemical suspected to be used in making spurious liquor.
According to state monitoring cell officials, the chemical was stored in 10 barrels.
To determine the exact nature of the chemical, samples have been sent to the forensic science laboratory for analysis.
Assistant sub-inspector Mayurdhawajsingh Rajendrasingh, who was part of the SMC team, said that a case has been registered regarding the incident.
The chemical was stored in 10 barrels, which were found in the open on the premises of an industrial estate. A vehicle was parked near the barrels.
