A political stir has emerged in Bharuch following Bharuch MP Mansukh Vasava’s strong objection to the appointment of Sandeep Patel as the BJP's Jangiya Taluka Mandal president.
Vasava welcomed the election of presidents for 12 mandals in the district but took to social media to express his disapproval of Patel’s selection, citing a lack of contribution to party activities.
The MP alleged that Sandeep Patel has no history of active involvement in BJP initiatives within the taluka and has limited his political work to his own village.
Vasava further claimed that Patel had worked against the party during the Lok Sabha elections and had even disrupted party programs, including those conducted under the MP’s banner, such as the Sevsetu initiative.
Adding to the controversy, Vasava criticized the selection process, stating that loyal BJP workers who have been active in the taluka and district for years were overlooked.
He emphasized that a candidate from one of the dominant tribal, Patel, or Rajput communities, which have supported the BJP for years, should have been considered instead of Patel.
The MP’s supporters have also raised concerns about Sandeep Patel’s alleged criminal background and accused certain business interests of influencing his appointment.
As Vasava's objections gain traction among local party workers and supporters, speculation is rife about the possibility of a review or even a re-election for the Jangiya Taluka Mandal president position.
This incident marks a rare public dissent from an MP in a party known for its discipline, signaling deeper fissures within the local BJP unit in Bharuch.
The situation continues to evolve as party leaders weigh their next steps to address the growing discontent.
