According to police, Chauhan was caught with 11 tickets for the high-profile final match, valued at ₹1,500 and ₹2,000 each.

Police said he had been selling these tickets for double the listed price, charging as much as ₹5,000 per ticket in some instances.

Based on a tip-off received during routine patrols in the Navrangpura area at around 6.50 pm, police officials said they found the suspect standing on the road opposite Metro Pillar offering the tickets for sale to passing pedestrians.

A subsequent search yielded the 11 tickets from Chauhan’s trouser pocket, including seats in Block Q, Upper, and Block N, Upper of the stadium.

During questioning, Chauhan admitted he had booked the tickets online but had no official licence, authorisation or dealership to resell them.

Gujarat University Police registered an offence under various sections of the Gujarat Police Act and seized the tickets as evidence.

Investigators said Chauhan confessed to the illicit resale of the tickets at prices well above their face value, defrauding eager cricket fans in the process. Police are investigating whether he was part of a larger ticket scalping racket.
