Lungs specialist Dr. Sonia Dalal in Vadodara put serious allegations on Sterling hospital for charging hefty money during Covid against the corporation guidelines. She also allege that the hospital charged money from patients on her name and don't gave any statements. She complained the matter to police commissioner and demand strict inquiry.

Dr. Sonia said, in 2018 I done an MOU with the hospital working as full-time pulmonologist and get the payment as per decided. In 2020 the hospital turned into a Covid centre and had to follow the VMSS guidelines under Indian Pandemic Act while charging money from patients. It clearly mentioned the fees in both inclusion and exclusion categories including the visit of super specialists for which the hospital can charge extra money.

They formed a team for Covid management and told me to visit every patient which is not possible for me. So I suggest to came with Dr. Abhinav Bhosle working under me but the management said they will not pay for him. We manage the patients but never get the statements. One of my patient approach me about the hospital charging extra money from them as Super Specialists charge in the name of Dr. Sonia Dalal and Dr. Abhinav Bhosle. We both attend 2865 patients and get one crore 43 lakhs without statement and around 18 to 20 crores is pending with the hospital.

She further said about issued a notice to the hospital in the month of July and finally approached the police commissioner for investigation. She also put allegations on the hospital for charging money for food and waste management outside the decided package.

Former minister and MLA Yogesh Patel also raised the issue of hospitals charging hefty money from patients during pandemic and said to be investigated. Pointing out Sterling hospital for charging more money outside the decided package by the VMSS, he said, police investigation is necessary in this matter and he will talk personally to police commissioner to look into the matter.

No one from the sterling hospital is picking up the call as we try to take their version.
