As per the years old tradition, Lord Ganpati arrived in Laxmi Vilas Palace on Ganesh Chaturthi with traditional sound of Shehnai and chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya. Bappa was installed inside the palace following the years old rituals which includes more than two centuries old asan prepared by Khanderao Gaekwad and made from kher tree. For more than seven decades famous Chavan family make the idol of lord Ganpati with great dedication installed in the palace.
As per the tradition Lord Ganpati popularly known as Palace Ganpati arrived in the morning as per shubh muhurat from the workshop at Khanderao Char Rasta. With Bhajans, sound of Shehnai and chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya the lord arrived in a 'Palkhi' inside the Rajmahal to bless the royal family and the visiting people.
The royal Gaekwad family welcome lord Ganesha inside the palace following the years old tradition. A special prayer was also organised as Ganpati arrived in the palace and placed on the century old platform.
During Sayajirao Gaekwad rule lord Ganesha arrived on special decorated elephants and horses. But now the Lord arrived on traditional 'Palkhi' used for years. Earlier the idol was installed inside Indumati palace but with changing times Ganesha is now installed inside Darbar hall at Laxmivilas palace.
Lalsinh Chavan and his brothers Mansinh and Pradipsinh make the Rajmahal Ganpati for years after their father died in 1897. "We started preparations from Akshay Tritiya on the platform for the Lord sent to them from the Rajmahal.
We readied it in one month and as per rules the idol is exactly 36 inches in height and weigh 90 kgs and specially made from grey clay brought from Bhavnagar. The platform used here is made from Kher wood and is around more than 200 years old prepared by Khanderao Gaekwad,"said Lalsinh Chavan.
On Ganesh Chaturthi the royal family took out the procession of lord from the workshop to Rajmahal and installed there with full rituals followed from decades.
