The next time you drive a car on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Road, Sindhu Bhavan Road or Sardar Patel Ring Road or arterial roads parallel to Sindhu Bhavan Road, make sure you do not exceed 70km per hour.

The state government on October 15 again notified speed limits for various types of vehicles.

City police has decided to implement these limits within its jurisdiction. The notification states that within city limits the speed for a car can be a maximum of 70km per hour (kmph).

 The limit for motorcycles of more than 100cc displacement is 60 kmph and for motorcycles of less than 100cc is 50 kmph.

City traffic police has deployed eight interceptors with speed guns on SG Road, SP Ring Road and Sindhu Bhavan Road and on roads parallel to it.

Officials said for the first offence the fine will be Rs 2,000. For the second it will be Rs 4,000 and for a third offence the licence will be suspended.

Officials said that as SP Ring Road and Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Road are in city limits, the maximum speed on them should be 70 kmph.
