Gujarat BJP is all set to get a new state president soon. Jagdish Vishwakarma (Panchal), the current MLA from Nikol constituency in Ahmedabad and a sitting minister, has filed his nomination for the post. With no other candidates having submitted nominations so far, his unopposed election appears almost certain.
This development marks yet another significant position being assigned to a leader from Ahmedabad, further strengthening the city’s influence within the party. Notably, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is the MLA from Ghatlodia, also in Ahmedabad, and now the party's state president is likely to be from the same city.
Following his nomination, several BJP leaders have started extending congratulatory messages to Jagdish Panchal, indicating strong internal support. Senior party leaders Babu Jamnadas and Suresh Patel have already conveyed their best wishes. Additionally, Uday Kankad handed over the nomination form to Panchal.
Jagdish Panchal is a prominent OBC face within the Gujarat BJP and has a strong organizational background. He is engaged in the textile machinery business and was born on August 12, 1973, in Ahmedabad. He holds a B.A. degree and an MBA in Marketing.
His political journey began in 1998 as a booth in-charge. Panchal has been elected to the Gujarat Assembly three times from the Nikol constituency. He also served as the BJP’s Ahmedabad city president from 2015 to 2021. Under his leadership, the BJP secured victory in the 2021 AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation) elections.
With his extensive experience and wide support, Jagdish Panchal is poised to take over as the next Gujarat BJP President.
