Industrial units in Gujarat press for fresh CEPI sampling

Industrial units located in critically polluted areas have been demanding fresh CEPI (Comprehensive Environmental Pollution Index) sampling for a while, but Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has not carried out this assessment.

Sampling was due in 2022 but was not carried out. Industrial units face a number of regulatory issues due to old CEPI scores, industry associations say.
CPCB developed CEPI to find out and index the quality of the environment.
Parikh added that most CETPs have successfully achieved various compliance levels in the last year with the help of new technologies and they have written to the Union environment ministry seeking fresh CEPI sampling.
