Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) 'Sarthak' arrived at its base port Porbandar on 19 November 2021. Sarthak was commissioned by DG K Natarajan, PVSM, PTM, TM, the Director General Indian Coast Guard at Goa.
The ship was received by Inspector General Anil Kumar Harbola, TM, the Commander Coast Guard Region (North West) on her maiden entry. DIG SK Verghese, Commander Coast Guard District No - 01 and other senior officers of the Force were present on the occasion. The ship is commanded by DIG MM Syed. The ship is indigenously constructed by M/s Goa shipyard Ltd. in line with PM's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
ICGS Sarthak is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment and has appropriate weaponry and sensors to execute mandated task of Indian Coast Guard that includes maritime security, safety and Search and Rescue (SAR) in the Coast Guard Region North West. The 105 metre long ship is designed to carry a helicopter onboard and is having an endurance of 6000 Nautical Miles.
