Indian Air Force Shooting Championship was organized at Headquarters South Western Air Command from 23 November to 26 November 2021. Teams from Air HQs, Western Air Command, Eastern Air Command, South Western Air Command, Central Air Command, Southern Air Command, Training Command and Maintenance Command participated in the Championship. The event was inaugurated by Air Marshal Vikram Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Air Command.

Shooting is one of the major thrust areas of Armed Forces. Shooting as sport not only keeps one fit but also fosters a sense of team spirit and esprit-de-corps among the participants. The aim of the Championship was to promote shooting as a sport in the Indian Air Force and to identify best shooters for the Indian Air Force Shooting Team.

Indian Air Force personnel have excelled at shooting, both at national and international level. Junior Warrant Officer Deepak Kumar had won the silver medal at the 2018 Asian games in 10 meter Air Rifle Category. He won the Bronze Medal in the same event at the 14th Asian Shooting Championship at Doha in 2019. Junior warrant Officer Deepak Kumar also represented India in 10 meter Air Rifle Competition at Tokyo Olympic in July 2021.

The championship concluded on 26 November 2021. Western Air Command team achieved the first position followed by Central Air Command and South Western Air Command which were placed second & third respectively.
