On Monday, a crowd in Rajkot, Gujarat, vandalised a police PCR van and three shops. A crowd of over 1,000 people assembled to deliver a memorandum to the district collector in protest of Kisan Bharwad's murder in Dhandhuka, which erupted into a riot that lasted nearly half an hour.
Approximately 1,000 people gathered at the collector's office, according to police, to submit a memorandum requesting stern action against the suspects in the Bharwad murder case. Following this, a leaderless mob obstructed traffic near Dharam cinema on Kasturba marg, prompting police intervention. A number of people congregated near the Galaxy theatre on Racecourse Road and forced shops to close, while another group marched to Sadar Bazar. A police PCR van was monitoring the area, and the mob vandalised the van and vandalised three businesses, forcing them to close.
Eggs and non-vegetable carts were among the items attacked by the mob. To disperse the mob, senior police officials used lathicharge, which resulted in one person being hurt. According to reports, a member of the group allegedly threw stones at officers.
