For the first time in the state, the LGBTQI community will celebrate Pride Month organizing weekly events in Vadodara city.
Despite it being the first event of its kind, the events have been designed uniquely to ensure that the community reaches out to a large number of people in an education institute as well as a mall.
Globally, Pride Month is celebrated in month of June. While walks and rallies have been held in the city in the past, it will be for the first time that a string of events has been planned over weekends throughout the month.
The events include a pride ride on June 4, cultural performances and a fashion show while celebrations will conclude with a Prom Night for the members of the community.
Orgnizations like Lakshya Trust, Vikalp and others will hold the celebrations in which members of the community are expected to converge in the city from across the state.
Merchant said that the reason to take the event to places like a university and a mall was to create awareness and sensitise citizensabout the community.
The organisers want to make the event larger and better in the coming years.
