Vadodara police Dog named Java had given a important contribution in detection of Karjan gang rape and murder. The sniffer dog sniffed the dupatta and water bottle lied in the field near the railway track and traced the accused lives inside the makeshift huts near the tracks. After strict interrogation the accused broke down and hence police detected the crime and arrest the accused for gang rape and murder. All hails from UP except one from Jharkhand and done casual labor work.
Taking advantage of the loneliness of a woman who went to cut grass near Dethan village of Karjan taluka, the accused raped and strangled her to death. As per details, the woman supported herself and family by doing farm work. On the evening of 16th August, as usual, she went near the village to mow the grass. At that time, as many as six accused sitting near the track took advantage of the woman's loneliness and gangrape her.
After committing the crime, the assailants strangled the woman with a dupatta to destroy the evidence and fled. A complaint was registered at Karjan police station with suspicious gang rape and the teams began investigation in the matter. Under the guidance of DySP Kalpesh Solanki, PI of District Local Crime Branch. D.B. Vala, and Karjan P.I. M.A. Patel, with the help of their staff, Dog squad and fingerprint experts, launched the investigation.
The team of district police along with dog handler Head Constable Hareshbhai Mohaniya started the investigation and the sniffer dog Java sniffed the dupatta and water bottle of the victim on the crime spot and moves ahead to stop at a settlement 500 to 700 meters away from the scene. It cast doubt on a man living there and police caught and interrogated him. He broke down later and confessed to the crime along with five others.
The accused Lal Bahadur Girjaram confessed that he and his friends were sitting on the railway track near the farm. They followed the woman who was going to cut grass in the field at that time and raped her. After the crime they strangulated her to death.
On the confession of Lal Bahadur Girjaram, police arrested Dilip Chaudhary (Jharkhand), Jagguprasad Pandu, Pramod Pandu, Ramsurat Pandu and Arjun Pandor all from UP in the gang rape and murder of the woman.
