The Sabarmati police on Thursday registered a case under the Gujarat Prohibition Act after busting an alleged illegal liquor party at a city hotel, seizing alcohol-related material and a high-value mobile phone, officials said.
According to the police, the case was registered on January 1, 2026, following a complaint lodged by a police officer attached to the Sabarmati Police Station.
Acting on specific information, a police team raided Room No 608 of AB Fortune Hotel, located in the Sabarmati area, during the early hours of the day.
Police said the raid was carried out after inputs suggested that a group had gathered at the hotel room to host a party involving consumption of liquor without valid permit or pass, in violation of the state’s prohibition laws.
Upon reaching the spot, officers found several individuals inside the room, with liquor bottles, empty beer cans, plastic glasses and snack packets scattered around.
During the search, police seized various items allegedly used during the party, including two plastic water bottles, empty beer cans, disposable plastic glasses and plates, and a bottle containing liquor.
A mobile phone valued at approximately ₹1.96 lakh was also seized as part of the evidence. The total value of the seized property was estimated at ₹1.96 lakh, police said.
