Hoax bomb threat grounds Goa-Ahmedabad flight

A Goa to Ahmedabad flight became the target of a hoax bomb threat on Sunday, leaving passengers stranded for over three hours post-landing at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport here, initially within the aircraft and later at the airport.

The incident occurred on IndiGo's flight 6E112, which took off from Goa on time and landed at the airport at 1:08pm. Shortly after landing, the flight was held on the runway, leading to confusion and concern among the passengers.

This is the second hoax bomb threat incident handled at the Ahmedabad airport in less than a week and the sixth such incident so far since May 2024.

Dixita Wagheshwari, a passenger from Vadodara on the flight, recounted her experience.
However, the extended delay disrupted the plans of several passengers, especially those with connecting flights, revealed sources.
An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed that the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay immediately after the security alert.
According to airport sources, the same aircraft was scheduled to fly to Lucknow. However, the flight to Lucknow was also delayed by an hour and departed at 5pm on Sunday.
The hoax bomb threat wasn't an isolated incident. According to sources, over 20 flights, including those operated by IndiGo, Vistara, Air India, and Akasa Air, received similar threats that day, impacting both domestic and international flights.
