According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ahmedabad received 2 to 3 inches of rainfall within just two hours, submerging major roads and forcing authorities to shut down underpasses at Mithakhali, Usmanpura, and Akhbar Nagar.

Areas including Vastrapur, Naroda, Memnagar, SG Highway, CG Road, Paldi, Jamalpur, Khadia, Lal Darwaja, Bodakdev, Iskcon, Bopal, Ghuma, and Sola reported intense rainfall. Low-lying regions, particularly Naroda, faced severe waterlogging, causing major inconvenience to commuters.

The IMD has forecast widespread heavy to very heavy rain across Gujarat, with South Gujarat expected to receive the heaviest spells. Officials have attributed the showers to three active weather systems currently influencing the state, which may keep conditions unstable until August 19.

Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar remain under close watch, with an orange alert issued for heavy rainfall spells throughout the day. Residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid waterlogged areas.
