The second spell of monsoon rainfall is currently underway in Gujarat, and many parts of the state are expected to receive heavy rainfall today as well. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a Red Alert has been issued for three districts of Gujarat, where very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely. Additionally, four districts are under Yellow Alert, and the remaining districts are on Orange Alert, indicating the possibility of heavy rain.

Red Alert in Three Districts

As per the IMD forecast, Aravalli, Mahisagar, and Kheda districts have been placed under Red Alert until 10 AM, with forecasts of very heavy to extremely heavy downpours. Meanwhile, the districts of Bhavnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, and Gir-Somnath in the Saurashtra region are under Yellow Alert until 10 AM, where light to moderate scattered rainfall is expected.

Statewide Heavy Rainfall Expected

Apart from the seven districts with Red and Yellow Alerts, the rest of Gujarat is under Orange Alert, with forecasts predicting moderate to heavy rainfall. The overall situation suggests widespread rainfall activity across the state.

Forecast for August 21–22

Heavy rainfall is likely across Saurashtra, North Gujarat, and South Gujarat until August 23. On August 21 and 22, torrential rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in as many as 26 districts, including Devbhumi Dwarka, Junagadh, Porbandar, Gir Somnath, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Navsari, Valsad, Kutch, Patan, Mehsana, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Botad, Morbi, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Dahod, Panchmahal, Anand, and Kheda.

Forecast for August 23–24

On August 23, a Yellow Alert is issued for the districts of Kutch, Patan, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Morbi, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Navsari, and Valsad. On August 24, Yellow Alert remains in effect for Kutch, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Navsari, and Valsad.
