Gujarat will soon be the biggest consumer of drones, according to Harsh Sanghavi, the minister of state for home. Sanghavi was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of a design event.
"Anti-drones are major challenges for various states and are a costly affair," Sanghavi said.
"Drone technology is an area that has tremendous scope under the Make in India initiative as it will help reduce costs in a big way." He added: "The state government will be the biggest purchaser of drones in coming days." Sanghavi was speaking at the valedictory ceremony of AhmedabadDesign Week 3.0 at Karnavati University in Uvarsad, Gandhinagar.
"The Gujarat government has collaborated with a number of educational institutes and varsities to train drone pilots," Sanghavi said. "We began such courses some time ago. We will bring about the necessary changes and alterations in the startup policy and other policies to support defence sector startups."
