Improved consumption, higher inflation and the onset of festive season have all propelled growth in the collection of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Gujarat in September.
According to data by the Union finance ministry, GST collection went up 12% in September to settle at Rs 10,129 crore as compared to Rs 9,020 crore in the corresponding month last year.
This includes total SGST, CGST and IGST revenues collected from the state in addition to cess.
As far as Gujarat is concerned, its revenues through GST went up 21% during the month.
In September, the state's SGST revenues and IGST settlement stood at Rs 5,133 crore as compared to Rs 4,248 crore in the corresponding month last year.
Pan India, gross GST revenues grew to Rs 1.62 lakh crore, up 10%.
The revenues were largely driven by domestic transactions including import of services.
The gross GST collection for the first half of the FY 2023-24 ending September (Rs 9.92 lakh crore) is 11% higher than the gross GST collection in the first half of FY 2022-23 (Rs 8.93 lakh crore).
The same in Gujarat grew 18% for the first six months of FY 2023-24, at Rs 40,123 crore.
