President Ramnath Kovind inaugurated a housing scheme for Economically Weaker sections at Bhavnagar in Gujarat yesterday evening. He also handed over the keys of the flats to several beneficiaries. A total of 1088 affordable houses have been constructed by Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
These one-bedroom-hall-kitchen dwelling units have been constructed by the BMC at the cost of 62 crore 97 lacs rupees. Speaking on this occasion, President Kovind expressed satisfaction over the timely completion of housing projects for the economically weaker sections.
Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, State Education Minister Jitubhai Vaghani remained present on this occasion along with other dignitaries.
Earlier, President Kovind went to Talgajarda village in Mahuva taluka of Bhavnagar district and visited Chitrakutdham, the ashram of Shri Morari Bapu. Mr Kovind will leave for Delhi today after his 3 day Gujarat visit.
