GANDHINAGAR: The state government on Monday said that Gujarat ranks first in the country in number of CNG stations, with more than 1,000. The government said of the total 5,899 CNG stations in the country, 17% are in Gujarat.
The statement said Gujarat also ranks first in the country in coverage of domestic piped natural gas (PNG) and industrial gas connections.
As of July 2023, there were 1,002 CNG stations in Gujarat, in all 33 districts, the statement said. Gujarat is followed by Uttar Pradesh with 819 CNG stations, Maharashtra with 778 and the National Capital Region (NCR) with 480.
