On February 14, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) named Punja Vansh and Veerji Thummar as the new main spokespersons for the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), replacing Jayrajsinh Parmar and Manish Doshi.

Former Gujarat Congress chief spokesperson Jayrajsinh Parmar announced his resignation from the party on Thursday morning, just days after being ousted from his position.

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) stated on February 14 that Punjabhai Vansh and Veerji Thummar will replace Jayrajsinh Parmar and Manish Doshi as the chief spokespersons for the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC). Since 2009, Parmar has been the GPCC's spokesperson.

Parmar said he was "weary of the inefficiencies of senior leaders of Congress" and the way the party had been turned into a "personal property of five-six leaders" in a Facebook post on Thursday.

"Congress has been my first family for the past 37 years wherein I have defended it by being a shield on media channels and social media, fighting as a loyal soldier. But today I am tired, not of fighting, but of the inefficiency of leaders who refuse to put up a fight. I am tired of the mentality in which workers are sidelined despite them giving their everything for the leaders who are used to getting defeated," Parmar said in the post in Gujarati.

"Despite not being in power for the past 27 years in Gujarat, the party is happy with placing bets on losing players. I even suffered from a heart attack during a live TV debate show however it did not affect my dedication towards my party. The one who did not get bothered with heart attack has today lost to the internal system of Congress," he added.

Parmar, who has been a member of the Congress party for 37 years, has frequently appeared on debate shows on Gujarati television news stations defending his party. He had a heart attack a few years back while watching a live TV discussion broadcast.

Parmar said in a cryptic tweet on February 16 that he is starting a new beginning from Mehsana. Three Congress leaders from Mehsana and 150 followers joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gandhinagar a few hours later.
