Union Minister of electronics and information technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that Gujarat is becoming the epicentre of semiconductor manufacturing in India.

According to the minister, Gujarat is leapfrogging other states to build the semiconductor ecosystem.

He was in Gandhinagar on Tuesday at the inaugural ceremony of the five-day exhibition organised as part of Semicon India 2023.

The exhibition was inaugurated at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar by Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel.

Later, the Gujarat government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth Rs 22,500 crore with US chipmaker Micron to establish an ATMP facility at Sanand in the state.

Speaking to the media after the inauguration, the minister also said that curriculum changes have been introduced in technical institutes, engineering courses and industrial training institutes which have been approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
