Taking note of “butchered cows in an open parcel of land” in Kheda district’s Nadiad, the Gujarat High Court on Tuesday recorded its shock at such incidents and asked authorities to examine the issue and submit a report.

A division bench of Justices A J Shashtri and Hemant Prachchhak was hearing a contempt petition concerning cattle nuisance and road conditions.

The petitioner’s advocate Amit Panchal tendered an affidavit on behalf of a Nadiad resident highlighting that carcasses of butchered cows have been left in an open parcel of land in the city and urging immediate action.

The photographs of the butchered animals were also attached to the affidavit.

The court has kept the matter next for Wednesday when authorities are expected to furnish details on cattle pounds’ conditions and action taken concerning the Nadiad incident.
