Union minister of electronics and information technology (MeiTY) Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the first chip from Tata Electronics' Dholera plant will be out in 2026.

Vaishnaw along with Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel said this during a media briefing in Dholera on Wednesday after the groundbreaking ceremony of the company's semiconductor fab unit at Dholera.

Tata Group is setting up India's first semiconductor fab unit for Rs 91,000 crore in Dholera, which has been declared as the Semicon city.

The Centre will contribute 50 per cent of the capex on pari passu basis.

Tata Electronics has collaborated with Taiwan-based Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (PSMC) to set up the plant.
