Teachers working at government engineering and polytechnic colleges carried out protests on Friday, demanding that the government resolve their long pending issues.

Around 4,000 teachers from 16 engineering colleges and 31 polytechnic colleges in the state wore black clothes and held banners at their institutes on Thursday and Friday.

The teachers said that if their outstanding demands are not resolved soon, they will hold symbolic protests on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on September 17 and wish him, wearing black clothes.

Teachers have been demanding their unpaid dues under the career advancement scheme, resolution of their long-pending transfer applications and that the teachers' ad hoc tenure should be considered continuous for getting pay revision.
