Government: Gujarat emerges a preferred place for cardiac care

On the occasion of World Heart Day on Sunday, the state govt said that Gujarathas emerged as a preferred destination for cardiac care.

The number of heart treatment procedures, as well as heart surgeries, conducted at U N Mehta Hospital in Ahmedabad, have more than doubled over the past four years.

An official statement released on Sunday mentioned that the number of heart-related procedures at U N Mehta Hospital increased from 13,615 in 2020 to 29,510 in 2023.

Similarly, the number of heart surgeries rose from 3,267 in 2020 to 7,438 in 2023. Outpatient visits at the institute increased from 1.57 lakh in 2020 to 3.35 lakh in 2023. In 2024, till Aug, 2.41 lakh patients have already been treated at the hospital, the statement added.
