A tragic industrial accident took place on Saturday morning at the Mangalmurti Bio Chem Company located in Nanaborasara village of Mangrol taluka, Surat district, resulting in the deaths of two workers due to a toxic gas leak on Saturday
During the cleaning process, he accidentally fell inside the tank and was suffocated by toxic fumes.
In a rescue attempt, Rajendra Sharma (27), also a resident of Ankleshwar and originally from Uttar Pradesh, entered the tank to save Rajput but also became unconscious due to the gas exposure.
Other employees at the factory quickly opened the lower valve of the tank and, wearing safety gear and masks, managed to extract both workers in an unconscious state.
They were rushed to a private hospital in Ankleshwar, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Police from Kosamba station, led by PI D L Khachar, reached the site for investigation. However, no company officials were present at the location.
Authorities have registered a case of accidental death and further inquiry is underway.
Mangalmurti Biochem manufactures raw materials for pesticides and employs over 60 workers. The absence of proper safety measures and supervision has raised serious concerns among local industrial safety advocates.
