Gandhinagar is Gujarat’s hottest place at 39.6°C
New Update

Gandhinagar was the hottest weather station in Gujarat on Friday with a maximum temperature of 39.6°C. Ahmedabad recorded a maximum of 39°C, 0.7 degrees above normal.

The minimum temperature here was 4.5 degrees above normal at 26.4°C. According to the forecast by the India meteorological department (IMD), the maximum and minimum in the city on Saturday will be around 39°C and 26°C respectively.

The forecast states that while there will be no major changes in minimum and maximum temperatures in the next five days, several coastal areas of the state may have “discomforting conditions” due to hot and humid air.

For Friday, IMD had given a “warm night condition” warning for Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Anand and Vadodara districts.

Across the state, maximum temperatures fell by a notch from two days ago when several cities recorded 40°C or higher.

Average maximum temperatures this March for Ahmedabad and Gujarat have been higher than the long-term averages.

The AMC released its heat action plan (HAP) with an advisory on Thursday.

Experts said prolonged exposure to temperatures of 40°C can result in heatstroke.
