Heritage enthusiasts will be able to get a glimpse of Vadodara’s journey with the railways at the Railway Heritage Museum at Pratapnagar on Thursday which marks International Museum Day.

The Vadodara railway division has decided to waive off entry fee for visitors who want to visit the museum.

It will also keep railway heritage park and rolling stock park open for visitors.

Bhajanlal Meena, senior divisional mechanical engineer of Vadodara railway division said that the railway division has the record for the highest number of narrow gauge lines in the Indian Railways.

However, currently, the gauge conversion work of most of the railway sections has been approved and the work is being completed rapidly.

The heritage museum houses rare maps, train timetables, hand generators, musical instruments, wall clocks, bells, telegraph instruments, badges, interesting photographs and models showing the working system of steam engines including working models of diesel engines.

Apart from the cutlery that was used by the royals, the rolling stock park has an 1836-made road roller, an 1874-made hand crane and a turn table that was used to rotate the engine and coach of narrow gauge train. “These all are centre of attraction for visitors,” Meena said.
