The yatra (journey) of Maa Sharda, the Goddess of Knowledge, worshipped by Kashmiri Hindus, started in a specially designed chariot from Sringeri, Karnataka, on January 24, i.e., on the day of Gauri Tritya, which used to be the annual convocation day at Sharda Peeth, during ancient times.
After passing through Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune, the procession is scheduled to reach Ahmedabad on February 3, 2023.
Pran Pratishtha of Maa Sharda’s murti (holy idol) will be performed on Navreh, March 23, at the newly built Sharda Maa Temple at Teetwal, near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
Maa Sharda’s murti has been handed over by Sringeri Sharda Mutt to the Save Sharda Committee headed by Sh. Ravinder Pandita, who along with his team, is accompanying the specially designed chariot from Sringeri to J&K, after keeping the deity at various Kashmir Bhawans to allow Sanatani Hindus across the country to pay homage.
