Amidst the grandeur, the yatra witnessed a tense situation as three elephants participating in the procession went berserk when the yatra reached the Khadia area.
The elephants veered off the designated route and entered a different pol (a narrow street or housing cluster).
Seeing the elephants charging through, panic spread among the people, and three individuals were reportedly injured. According to reports, the elephants went out of control in Ghanchi ni Pol in Khadia due to the loud DJ music.
Followed by a prompt response from police, no major chaos ensued, and the mahouts (elephant handlers) managed to regain control over the elephants within minutes. Due to the timely action of the police, a major tragedy was averted.
As per reports, two to three people sustained injuries including a cameraman from a news channel. Moreover, one male and two female elephants were excluded from rejoining the procession.
