Doctors, nursing staff of Sayaji Hospital help in the safe delivery of pregnant woman accused of theft by police

The pregnant woman, who is accused of theft, was delivered safely in the maternity ward of Sayaji Hospital on Saturday. The mother and the newborn baby were healthy which bring smile on the faces of the hospital staff.

Giving details in-charge Sister Bhanu Gheewala said that on Saturday, a pregnant woman was detained by the police in connection with an incident of theft. At the same time, her labor pains started and police brought her to the Sayaji hospital without any delay.

The woman was rushed to the labor room of maternity ward and she gave birth to a healthy baby girl weighing about 2,900 grams at noon. The mother and baby are in good health and being treated at a government hospital.

Bhanu Gheewala said, This is the first time in her career and probably the first time has happened in our maternity ward. She is also being monitored by a relative of the concerned woman. The birth has also been reported to the Pediatrics Department and the doctor there has examined the newborn and given an opinion that the newborn is healthy. The police system is also present there during the procedure.

Responding to this, medical superintendent of Sayaji Hospital, Dr. Ranjan Krishna Aiyar said that regardless of the status of the person in terms of law or police system, in the hospital we provide the necessary treatment, health care without any discrimination to all those who need health care as a patient. Regardless of seen her as accused, Maternity services and health care have been provided to her in a similar manner like other patients. Our doctors, nursing staff and all are happy with the safe delivery of a healthy baby. Keeping the mother and baby healthy is our priority. At present the mother and baby are kept in the maternity ward of Sayaji Hospital as per rules.
