The Dholera airport project work will be completed by the end of this year, informed Muralidhar Mohol, the Union minister of state for civil aviation in the Rajya Sabha.
The minister was replying to Rajya Sabha member Narhari Amin’s question when he informed that the project is slated to be completed in December 2025.
The Gujarat government has identified 11 sites, namely, Morbi, Dhordo, Rajpipla, Dahod, Dwarka, Palitana, Botad, Rajula, Ankleshwar, Ambaji, and Dholavira, for development of new Greenfield airports.
Airports Authority of India (AAI) received requests for pre-feasibility studies only for 8 sites identified by the state government as per Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the state and AAI.
As per pre-feasibility study, five sites, i.e Morbi, Dhordo, Rajpipla, Dahod, and Dwarka, were found feasible, and three sites, i.e Palitana, Botad, and Rajula, were not found feasible.
