Cops hunt for makers of illicitly modified passports in Gujarat

The arrest of Bharat Patel alias Bobby, a resident of Bhadaj, in December last year was considered a big breakthrough by the cops probing the organized human trafficking racket in the state.

He has been linked to the illegal immigration case involving a family of four from Dingucha who froze to death while crossing the Canada-US border in January last year.

Sources in the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) of Gujarat police said that a cache of passports was recovered from Bobby Patel.

The state directorate of forensic sciences (DFS) recently gave a report on seven of those passports to the investigators.
