Coaching classes are a Rs 1,500 crore industry in Gujarat

This is one industry that can give any other a run for its money - it has a captive audience, assured returns and is growing at 20% annually.

Experts estimate the size of the coaching classes industry to be Rs 1,500 crore on the lower side and north of Rs 2,000 crore on the upper side, said industry sources.

This trend has also prompted tuition or coaching class tutors to come together and even start new schools where the aim is to prepare students for competitive exams.

Such schools have come up in Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Palanpur and Mehsana among others in addition to four major cities in the past five to seven years.

Expert teachers are major gainers and rake in moolah based on their experience and expertise.
