After residents of certain areas in western Ahmedabad complained about uncollected garbage and sanitation problems, Union home minister Amit Shah directed the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to take quick action in the matter.
Several areas of the western part of the city fall under the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, which Amit Shah represents.
Residents of Bopal, Ghuma and Ambli had publicly raised concerns about garbage on roads after which Shah directed the AMC to ensure that cleaning and removal of garbage is carried out within three days, a statement from the Gujarat BJP said on Friday.
According to the BJP statement, Shah asked municipal commissioner Lochan Sehra to resolve the garbage disposal issues, which has been precipitated by the sanitation workers' strike.
Bopal, Ghuma and Ambli were originally villages administered by a municipality.
They are part of Shah's Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat. These localities are now in the jurisdiction of the AMC.
