Bodeli and surrounding villages in Chhotaudepur district have now been recognized as a Municipality.
The Gujarat government has declared this area as a ‘Small Urban Area’ under Article 243Q(2) of the Constitution of India and Section 7 of the Gujarat Panchayat Act, 1993.
This municipality includes Bodeli village panchayat, Alikherwa village, Dhoklia, Jankharpura and Chachak village panchayats.
This decision has been taken keeping in mind the population of the area and sources of income for the local administration, percentage of non-agricultural employment and economic importance of this area.
As per notification GV/301/2025 issued by the Department of Urban Development and Urban Housing on August 21, 2025, general elections are to be held for Bodeli Municipality.
Till then, the Mamlatdar of Bodeli has been appointed as the Administrator as per Section 266B(d) of the Gujarat Municipalities Act, 1963.
